Complementary copy of 2014 BSG "Practicing Presence"

It has come to our attention that the complementary copies (one to each church connected to Mennonite Church Canada) of the 2014 Bible Study Guide called "Practicing Presence" were not sent out in a timely fashion and that they have not yet been delivered.  We have been assured that they are now on their way.  We are sorry for the delay.  If you were hoping to get them in time to incorporate them into your fall programming plans you can contact me and I will send you a .pdf copy to use in the meantime. Please email me at presmwcanada@mennonitechurch.ca.

For additional copies please contact Craig Anderson at the MennoMedia office in Kitchener, ON.  His email address is craiga@mennomedia.org and his phone number is 1-800-631-6535.

Women walking together in faith - July 2014 - "Let's celebrate"

Women Walking Together in Faith
is the name of Mennonite Women Canada's page in the Canadian Mennonite magazine. Our executive members each take a turn writing or finding someone to write.  The most recent article appeared on July 7 and was written by Waltrude Gortzen our BC Women's Ministry Rep.  She begins her article by saying "In our frenzied, everyday lives, it is essential that we celebrate important ministry anniversaries or family milestones that come along...."   Click here to read the whole article and see the photo of Waltrude's mother who recently celebrated her 80th birthday.

Sister Care Worksop at Assembly

Follow-up to Assembly reporting:  On July 14, I wrote "Rhoda Keener, Co-director of Mennonite Women USA brought greetings and shared about their Sister Care program."  For those who are wondering what Sister Care is all about you can check back to a blog I posted on January 27, 2012 or check the MW USA website.

We had invited Rhoda Keener to lead a workshop/seminar during Assembly to introduce Sister Care.  Rachel Bergen, Co-editor of the Canadian Mennonite Young Voices feature was present and reported the event on-line under the heading "Sisters equipped to care for their sisters". I looked for the article in the print edition but I couldn't find it.  Thanks, Rachel, for your perspective on this seminar.  You can find it here!

Announcement:  The Executive of Women of Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (WMCEC) has invited Rhoda Keener and Carolyn Heggen to present a Sister Care Seminar in Cambridge, ON on Friday and Saturday October 3 and 4, 2014.  For more information and to get a registration form please contact Phyllis Ramer (Co-ordinator) by email at peramer@hay.net or by phone at (519) 236-7332.

BC women 'at a time of crossroads'

Back a few months ago I posted announcements about the upcoming events that the provincial/area church women's organizations were hosting.  See post from March 29 (click here).  The follow-up report for WMCEC's event "Faith, Food and Friends" was posted on May 8.  In addition WMCEC's "Tulip Festival Bus Tour" report appeared on May 28.
The BC Women's Ministry event took place on May 3 with a Diamond Anniversary celebrating 75 years.  Amy Dueckman, BC Correspondent for the Canadian Mennonite, wrote a report which was published May 26. "Five past presidents of what was formerly BC Women in Mission shared memories reflecting how serving had changed them and how women's roles in church and society has changed over the years." To read the whole article click here.

Thanks to the planning committee members of BC Women's Ministry:  Waltrude Gortzen (Abbotsford), Rita Siebert (Richmond) and Cheryl Dyck (Mission) for the commitment of time and energy you have put into your province-wide events!
