2014 BSG now available!

Practicing Presence, commissioned by Mennonite Women Canada and Mennonite Women USA, is recommended for women’s gatherings, Sunday school groups, retreats, or individual reading and inspiration.

Practicing Presence is a women’s Bible study guide that uses biblical characters to demonstrate how women can be a companioning presence with each other. Being present and caring for one another during times of need, or in the daily tasks of life, is an important practice of spiritual journeys.

People are created to be together—to play together, work together, and journey through life side by side. Practicing Presence looks at how women can be a companioning presence with each other, caring about each other and reflecting God’s love. Being present is how women engage with each other in the ups and downs of life—from the difficult to the routine. This women’s Bible study draws on biblical characters to show how God companions with us, and how women can companion with each other.

Author, Terri J. Plank Brenneman, offers twelve sessions that highlight how to be present with each other. Topics include the creation story of God as a loving creator, loving God and others as ourselves, Jesus and Mary grieving when Lazarus died, and Ruth being present with Naomi, among others.

Mennonite Women Canada has sent one complementary copy to each MC Canada affiliated congregation.  Check with your women's rep/coordinator or church administrator if your church has not yet received it.  Then contact your provincial rep and ask to be put on the mailing list for next year.

To order additional copies please contact Craig Anderson at 1-800-631-6535. You can also order on line through MennoMedia.  Craig will have copies for sale at the MennoMedia display at Assembly for $10.00.  Pick up your own copy there and avoid shipping charges!

Women walking together in faith - May 2014 - "A pilgrim people on the margins"

Women Walking Together in Faith
is the name of Mennonite Women Canada's page in the Canadian Mennonite magazine. Our executive members each take a turn writing or finding someone to write.  Melody Neufeld-Rochelau, our guest writer, is a client care coordinator with the Saskatchewan Health Region and is working towards a Graduate Certificate of Christian Ministry through Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg.  In the May 12, 2014 issue Melody shares about her experience at Breath of Life Mennonite Church, a house church in Saskatoon (2006-13) where she had the privilege of being in leadership.   Melody is also one of the current recipients of our Spiritual Growth Assistance Fund.

Her article begins "Five loaves and two fish.  The story of the feeding of the five thousand illustrate how Jesus uses the small amounts we bring to him."  Click here to read the full article.
